As Hillary Clinton continues to battle it out with Bernie Sanders to sew up the Democratic party’s presidential nomination, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is picking up ground in various national polls.
In fact, in one recent poll, Trump vaulted past Clinton in a hypothetical face-off. In a Fox News poll conducted earlier this week, Trump took 45% of votes versus 42% for Clinton. A Fox News poll taken a month ago had Clinton leading 48% to Trump’s 41%—with the latest poll showing a swing that has also been seen in other national polls that are showing a tighter potential race than pundits previously predicted.
The Fox News poll—conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research—surveyed more than 1,000 randomly chosen registered voters across the U.S. And carries a margin of error of +/- three percentage points.
Clinton continues to hold a commanding lead among women voters (50% to 36%), though Trump leads with men (55% to 33%), according to the Fox News poll. Trump also wins large majorities among white voters and, especially, whites without college degrees. Another interesting takeaway from the poll is that a majority of the voters surveyed felt that both Clinton and Trump lack honesty and trustworthiness, with 66% of respondents saying they don’t believe Clinton is honest versus 57% for Trump.
