This story originally ran on Entertainment Weekly.

It’s Bond. James Bond… but not for long, if fans get their way.

The X-Files star Gillian Anderson has found herself at the center of the #NextBond saga, a fan-fueled campaign seeking to fill Daniel Craig’s seemingly vacant shoes as the leader of the James Bond movie franchise. The 47-year-old actress, who was born in America but spent a large portion of her childhood in London, has quickly become a popular choice to front the series, the next installment of which currently remains untitled and without a confirmed release date.

Retweeting a fan-made poster that features her image over the title 007, Anderson commented: “It’s Bond. Jane Bond. Thanks for all the votes! (And sorry, don’t know who made poster but I love it!) #NextBond.” The tweet has thus far received nearly 14,000 likes.

Other fan choices include everyone from Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager), who previously said “no one” has approached him about starring in the next James Bond film, and Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), who also commented on the matter, saying, “If it should happen, that’s proof there’s connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true.”
