Pebble, the startup that made a name for itself by launching a Kickstarter campaign to get its smartwatch business off the ground, is back at it.
The company announced three new devices on Tuesday that it will offer to customers via Kickstarter. First up is the Pebble 2, a smartwatch featuring a monochrome e-paper display, as well as a microphone, built-in activity tracking, and water resistance up to 30 meters. The device, which can last up to seven hours on a single charge, will start at $99 and start shipping in September.
In addition, Pebble unveiled another smartwatch boasting many of the same features, called the Pebble Time 2. While the Time 2 will come with a larger display and feature full color support, it’ll last the same amount of time on a single charge and is also water resistant up to 30 meters. Like the Pebble 2, the Pebble Time 2 will work with both iOS and Android devices, but it’ll be more expensive, starting at $169 when it ships in November.

Pebble is one of many companies trying to compete in the hotly-contested wearables market. However, the company is faced with a wide range of competitors, including Fitbit, Jawbone, and others. Smartwatches are especially competitive, featuring industry giants like Apple (AAPL), Samsung, and LG. Even traditional watchmakers have joined the market.
Perhaps realizing that smartwatches aren’t the only way forward, Pebble also introduced a small, square device dubbed Pebble Core. The module, which will start at $69 and launch in Jan. 2017, is essentially an Android-based computer living inside a clickable box that can be “hacked” to do whatever the user wants.
“Call an Uber with a click,” the company wrote on its Kickstarter page. “Track your pet from across the world. Stream data from your car’s ODB port. Pilot a drone from the web. Or, … you get the picture.”
Pebble is also pushing out a software development kit to users, enabling them to create software that would run inside the Core. Upon doing so, the software would allow users to do just about anything they want. Out of the box, the Core will offer Spotify streaming music support, along with other features, including the ability to track locations and distance. It’s able to connect to the Internet via 3G and Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth so it can be paired with Pebble Watch.

Pebble is offering all three products on crowdfunding site Kickstarter. It hopes to raise $1 million and appears to be well on its way to that goal, despite having 36 days to go and the campaign only launching on Tuesday. As of this writing, Pebble has received more than $631,000 in crowdfunding from nearly 3,500 backers.
