In a bid to foster improved relations with artists, Spotify has hired Lady Gaga’s former manager Troy Carter to be its global head of creator services, Spotify confirmed to Coins2Day.

Carter is both a tech investor and a manager for musicians. In his new role, he’ll reportedly work with artists and record companies to help get additional content for the music service, as first reported by the New York Times. As part of the role, he will be in charge of the artist relations, songwriter relations, and label relations teams.

The company confirmed that Carter will begin work with Spotify next week. He will report to Stefan Blom, the company’s chief strategy and content officer.

Along with Lady Gaga, who he stopped working for in 2013, Carter has worked with Will Smith, Sean Combs, Meghan Trainor, and Charlie Puth. Carter started his career in 1990 and currently owns entertainment company Atom Factory.

In May, Coins2Day reported that Spotify failed to turn a profit in its latest financial results, despite having nearly 90 million subscribers and about $2 billion in annual revenues. It has struggled to attract some big name new releases from artists like Taylor Swift, Adele and Beyoncé, who have opted for rival services Apple Music (AAPL) and Tidal.
