Late-night talk show host Seth Meyers is giving Donald Trump a taste of his own medicine … even if he admits the presumptive GOP presidential nominee probably won’t care.

Taking a page from Trump’s own playbook, Meyers said Tuesday that he is banning the billionaire real estate developer and former reality TV star from appearing on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. The prohibition comes as a result of Trump’s decision to revoke the Washington Post’s press credential over its articles that have been critical of Trump’s campaign, including one headline the Post decided to walk back. Either way, as long as the Post is banned from Trump events, Meyers said the candidate will be banned from appearing on Late Night.

“Trump is stoking fear and spreading hate,” Meyers remarked on Tuesday night’s program before laughing and admitting, “To be fair he wasn’t coming on [Late Night] anyway. Let’s be honest. He isn’t interested in being here.”

In other words, Meyers’ own Trump ban is little more than a joke-y stunt, but it does come in the wake of the Post becoming the latest media outlet to be banned from Trump’s campaign events, as the paper joins a long list that also includes BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, and Politico.

And, despite Meyers’ insistence that Trump would not have appeared on his show anyway, the GOP candidate is a frequent media presence who made a number of late-night TV visits in the early months of his campaign, including with Meyers’ NBC colleagues like Jimmy Fallon, on The Tonight Show, as well as a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. (Trump is the former host of NBC’s The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice.)
