Good morning, Broadsheet readers! Joe Biden shares a powerful message about rape culture, Samantha Bee channels my rage, and Facebook’s Nicola Mendelsohn makes a very bold prediction. Enjoy your Wednesday.

EVERYONE'S TALKING

• It's a wrap! Coins2Day's Most Powerful Women International Summit concluded Tuesday afternoon in London. Hot topics included Brexit, women's rights in Saudi Arabia, barriers faced by European startups and the Syrian refugee crisis. I'm already looking forward to next year, but in the meantime, read on to get details on everything that had the global MPWs talking yesterday...

ALSO IN THE HEADLINES

• Oh, really? Do you see Uber as a rule-flouting rebel? If so, you're not alone—the startup has gotten at least as much press for its rumbles with governments and taxi unions as it has for its ride-hailing service. But Jo Bertram, the company's regional GM for the U.K., Ireland, and the Nordics, told the MPW audience that it's all a misunderstanding, saying Uber "wants to be regulated," provided those regulations are fair.  Coins2Day

• The Euro gap. There's a reason that European startups struggle to be as successful as their U.S. Counterparts, Maelle Gavet, EVP of global operations for The Priceline Group, told Summit attendees: Patchwork regulations, which vary from country to country.  Coins2Day

• A wake-up call. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, minister for tolerance for the UAE, used her time on the MPW stage to urge everyone to "wake up" and come together to fight terrorism. She specifically addressed the Orlando shooting, saying that the tragedy proves that Islam has been “hijacked by ISIS.” Coins2Day

• In Rosa's footsteps. Nawal Alhawsawi earned the nickname "Rosa Parks of Saudi Arabia" when she stood up to a woman who called her an Arabic racial slur in 2013. Since then, she's been crusading against racism, sexism, and discrimination against people with disabilities. She shared her strategy for creating change with the Most Powerful Women crowd: "I have to reach out to the other person and persuade them to see how what I’m proposing isn’t just good for me but for them too." Coins2Day

• A video worth 1,000 words? According to Nicola Mendelsohn, VP for Facebook in the EMEA region, there's a good chance the social media giant will be "all video" in five years. Facebook

MOVERS AND SHAKERS: Kathleen Murphy, president of personal investing at Fidelity Investments, has been named to the board of the Markle Foundation. Cloud computing company DigitalOcean hired Julia Austin as CTO.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

• The State of Women. The U.S.'s top leaders had a lot to say during the White House's United State of Women summit in Washington, D.C. Yesterday. President Obama talked about the progress that has yet to be made in terms of women’s equality, while Vice President Joe Biden called on men to help end violence against women, saying that those who don’t act to prevent rape are “accomplices."

• Sting like a Bee. I urge you to watch this Full Frontal with Samantha Bee segment about the Orlando shooting. While I hesitate to describe it as funny—other than in the 'laugh so you don't cry' sense—Bee's rage over our country's ludicrous lack of gun control is palpable and infectious. Entertainment Weekly

• Birchbox hits the brakes. Beauty subscription startup Birchbox has suspended plans to open at least three physical stores in the U.S. And has put its overseas expansion plans on hold. The company's challenges are partly due to its difficulty in securing VC funding, which co-founder and CEO Katia Beauchamp calls “a complete reversal." WSJ

• Martha makes dinner. Martha Stewart is partnering with Sequential Brands (which bought Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia last year) and ingredient delivery company Marley Spoon to launch a food-delivery service.  Coins2Day

• Get on board already! Catalyst's annual report on the state of women on corporate boards is out and—surprise, surprise—shows little improvement. Women held 19.9% of board seats at S&P 500 companies last year, up from 19.2% in 2014.  Coins2Day
