In the aftermath of the shooting of a dozen police officers in Dallas on Thursday evening, which left five officers dead, the presidential candidates and other political bigwigs have weighed in. Here’s what some of the biggest names in politics have said so far.

Donald Trump

Prayers and condolences to all of the families who are so thoroughly devastated by the horrors we are all watching take place in our country

Trump, who cancelled a campaign event in Miami on Friday, also issued a statement on his website where he said that “We must restore law and order. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street.” He also called the shooting of two people by police in Louisiana and Minnesota “senseless, tragic deaths.”

Hillary Clinton

I mourn for the officers shot while doing their sacred duty to protect peaceful protesters, for their families & all who serve with them. -H
