Google has a plan to stop unsolicited phone calls.

The search giant said Monday that a new update to its Google (GOOG) Phone app would help Nexus and Android One smartphone owners avoid spam phone calls. Google said its new spam protection feature will automatically warn device owners about possible spam callers and let owners block and report phone numbers associated with unwanted phone calls.

Nexus and Android One smartphone owners who activate Caller ID on their phones will have access to the new spam protection feature after they update to the latest version of the Google Phone app. It’s unclear how Google identifies potentially unwanted calls.

Nexus and Android One smartphone users who receive phone calls that Google suspects are spam will see the phrase “suspected spam caller” or “spam” on their devices’ screens. Users can then go to their phone history to see the suspected spam calls and then choose to block calls coming from the associated phone number.

They also have the option to report the spam call.
