With August now here, that can only mean one thing: a new Apple Campus 2 drone flyover. And this one is a beauty.

Documentarian Matthew Roberts is back at it, publishing a video of the the current progress on Apple’s “spaceship” campus as of August. The video reveals that Apple’s (AAPL) work is far from done, but things are taking shape nicely. For one, the garden in the middle of the spaceship is starting to be built, along with a security area where people will drive in. Several cranes are still in motion and solar panels are dotted on the outside of the main building waiting to be placed atop.

In addition, Roberts, who uses a drone each month to document the campus’ progress, shows that part of the circular building is still being built and glass is being added. However, there appears to be a significant amount of work done on the main building since last month.

Apple’s spaceship campus, which was the brainchild of late co-founder Steve Jobs, will span 2.8 million square feet of office space and house 12,000 employees when it’s done. The facility will be completely powered by renewable energy generated by 700,000 square feet of solar panels, along with some small fuel cells. The campus in Cupertino, Calif., will also feature more than 7,000 trees, underground parking, new auditoriums, on-campus restaurants, and a 100,000-square-foot corporate fitness center for employees.

Speaking of that fitness center, Roberts flew by it and found that it’s still under construction. There also appears to be basketball and tennis courts in the front.

Interestingly, a massive mound of dirt that had become a mountain in recent months is now shrinking in size. According to Roberts, the workers are repurposing all the dirt they had excavated for the landscaping that will be installed across the campus.

The heart and soul of Apple’s future, its main research and development center, appears to be nearly done, complete with air-conditioning units whirring on its roof. Smaller research-and-development facilities are being constructed nearby, according to Roberts.

Finally, the parking structures currently being erected at Apple Campus 2 are nothing short of astounding and are simply massive, with bridges connecting different areas to office buildings. In total, the parking structures will reach 2 million square feet.

Apple hopes to move into its “spaceship” campus starting next year. And by the look of things, construction appears to be well on its way to helping it achieve that goal.
