Did Ivanka Trump just go from potential First Daughter to cabinet member?
In an interview with Florida-based ABC affiliate First Coast News on Wednesday, the Republican nominee dodged a question about women he would include in his cabinet, were he to be elected president.
“Well, we have so many different ones to choose,” he said, but then went on to talk about his daughter, businesswoman and Trump Organization EVP Ivanka Trump. “I can tell you everybody would say, “Put Ivanka in, put Ivanka in,” you know that, right? She’s very popular, she’s done very well, and you know Ivanka very well.”
Trump then went on to suggest that his interviewer, Angelia Savage—who was previously employed by Trump, according to BuzzFeed— could be a contender: “But there really are so many that are really talented people—like you, you’re so talented, but I don’t know if your viewers know that.”
Hillary Clinton promptly tweeted to her opponent that she knows “a guy with a binder”—referring to a remark made by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney during his 2012 presidential campaign.
Talking about his state cabinet, Romney remarked that his team “took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet. I went to a number of women’s groups and said, ‘Can you help us find folks,’ and they brought us whole binders full of women.”

While “binders full of women” might be a bit extreme, the GOP does have a number of highly-qualified female politicians in its ranks, including former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA).
