Police at JFK Say ‘Nobody Shot’ After Reports Prompt Mass Evacuation

Update, 1:10 a.m. ET: Police have determined that “no shots were fired” after evacuating and searching two terminals at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, the NYPD’s special operations division wrote on Twitter early Monday morning.

Authorities announced that “all affected terminals” would continue operating “shortly,” after reports had streamed in hours earlier that gunshots may have been fired at JFK’s Terminal 8.

“There is nobody shot,” said police.

JFK UPDATE: All terminals searched & cleared. Negative results. All affected terminals will resume operations shortly. No shots were fired.

Original story: Police evacuated a terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday night after getting reports of shots fired.

Authorities said they received calls about a potential shooter at Terminal 8 around 9:30 p.m. Local time, according to The Associated Press.

The Port Authority said in a statement that officials have not yet confirmed whether shots were fired. They said that there were no injuries.

Meanwhile, Terminal 1 and a nearby expressway have also been shut down, according to the AP.
