Donald Trump complained that Sunday’s presidential debate was a “one on three” contest, suggesting that Hillary Clinton and moderators Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz were all working against him.
“I’d like to know, Anderson, why aren’t you bringing up the emails?” Trump said, referring to Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State.
Cooper interjected to note that they had just asked a question about Clinton’s emails.
“One on three,” Trump quipped.
Clinton has faced scrutiny for her use of a private email server. After a yearlong investigation, FBI Director James Comey said Clinton and her staff were “extremely careless” in their handling of classified information, but he said there was “no intentional misconduct” and recommended that no criminal charges be brought. Trump has repeatedly attacked Clinton over the findings of the FBI probe.
In a later exchange with Raddatz Sunday evening, Trump once again brought up what he saw as his unfair treatment during the debate.
“Why don’t you interrupt her? You interrupt me all the time,” Trump said as Raddatz asked him to more directly answer a question about his proposed ban on allowing Muslims to enter the country.
