So much for the secretive Apple.
The tech giant released a security update to its desktop operating system macOS Sierra on Tuesday. The update seemed like a standard improvement, but eagle-eyed observers found that it includes hidden images showcasing how a new MacBook Pro sporting a touchbar and Touch ID sensor above the keyboard operates.
The images, which were earlier reported on by Apple-tracking site Macrumors, reveal a MacBook Pro with a thin black strip over its keyboard. The touch panel, which comes with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display technology, changes the information on its screen based on what the user is doing with the operating system. In one example, the screen is showing information about Apple Pay.

To the right of the OLED touchbar, which might be known as the Magic Toolbar, users will find a Touch ID sensor. That feature is believed to allow users to make purchases with Apple Pay and unlock the software without using a passcode.
The images could be causing a headache for some folks within Apple today. The company (AAPL) has long clung to secrecy and doesn’t reveal products until its executives have the chance to unveil them on a grand stage. With the MacBook Pro, however, the secrecy is now gone.
Over the last several months, rumors have been swirling that Apple was planning a big update to its MacBook Pro that would include both a touchbar and the Touch ID support. Speculation ramped up last week when Apple announced plans to hold a press event on Thursday at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. Now, all signs are pointing to those rumors being true.

In addition to the touchbar and Touch ID, the images don’t reveal many other changes to the MacBook Pro. In fact, the design looks strikingly similar to what we’ve seen from Apple’s MacBook Pro for the last several years.
Apple, which did not immediately respond to a Coins2Day request for comment, will likely unveil the new MacBook Pro along with other Macs at its press event on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
