Donald Trump has made several promises while campaigning to become the leader of the free world that would drastically change U.S. Policy. Here’s what Trump has promised for America:
We would have a wall
Trump has proposed building an “impenetrable physical wall” on the southern border that Mexico would pay for, beginning on the first day of his administration, according to his official campaign website. Trump first introduced the idea in July when he announced his candidacy. “I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively, I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall,” he said at the time. “Mark my words.”
We may temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country
Trump has called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S., saying Muslim immigrants and refugees are dangerous to national security. He appeared to have toned down his rhetoric in October during the second presidential debate, saying “the Muslim ban is something that has morphed into an extreme vetting.”
We would deport undocumented immigrants
In Trump’s immigration plan outline on his website, he says he would detain anyone who illegally crosses the border until they are “removed out of our country.” He also said he would “move criminal aliens out day one” with the help of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Trump has also promised to triple the number of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Under a Trump presidency, federal officials would select immigrants “based on their likelihood of success in the U.S. And their ability to be financially self-sufficient.” Trump hammered down his point during a campaign speech in Phoenix in late august. “Zero tolerance for criminal aliens. Zero. Zero,” he said.
We would repeal Obamacare and undo some of Obama’s executive orders
Trump promised that if he were to be elected, he would immediately convene a special session of Congress to repeal Obamacare. “Obamacare has led to higher prices, fewer choices and lower quality,” Trump said at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania last week. “Hillary Clinton wants to expand Obamacare and make it even more expensive.” Trump went one step further in pledging to “cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama,” he says in his 100-day action plan outlined in his “contract with the American voter.”
