Donald Trump has had a long history with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) that may extend into his presidency.
The president-elect is supposedly considering Linda McMahon, a former WWE executive and wife of WWE CEO Vince McMahon, to be the Secretary of Commerce, NBC Connecticut reports. In addition to helping run the professional wrestling organization, McMahon’s resume includes serving on the Connecticut Board of Education for a little over a year starting in 2009, and running for Senate in 2010 and 2012, though she lost both times.
A spokesperson for McMahon told NBC Connecticut that she would be honored to serve in Trump’s administration, though he has not approached her about it.
Trump announced his transition team on Friday, which is being led by vice president-elect Mike Pence and includes three of the real estate mogul’s children. They have already chosen Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus as his chief of staff and former Breitbart Media publisher Stephen Bannon as his senior counsel. Other names they appear to be considering for cabinet positions include Rudy Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, and Steve Mnuchin.
Donald Trump’s relationship with the WWE goes back close to 30 years. He will be the first U.S. President to also be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
