It’s that time of the season when companies large and small try to convince people to spend big money by offering them discounts.
Microsoft (MSFT) has joined the Black Friday bandwagon, along with companies like Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN), by targeting video gamers with markdowns on popular games for its Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
Larry Hryb, Microsoft’s director of programming for its Xbox Live gaming service, said Friday in a blog post the technology giant would offer deals on video games, movies and television shows, music, and apps starting Nov. 22 and ending Nov. 28.

People who signed up to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold membership, Microsoft’s premium subscription service that includes more features, will receive additional discounts and earlier access to deals, starting Nov. 18, Hryb wrote.
Here are some of the Xbox One video games being discounted:
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will be available at 60% to 67% off its usual $20 price.
Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition will be available at 40% to 60% off its usual $40 price
Dragon Age: Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition will be 50% to 60% off its usual $40 price.
Grand Theft Auto V will be 40% to 50% off its $60 price.
Mafia III will be 20% to 30% off of its $60 price.
Here are some of the deals for downloadable movies and television shows:
The Goosebumps, the movie, will be sold at 40% off its usual $10 price.
Movies including Pain & Gain, The Goonies, and Mission: Impossible will cost $4.99 to download, instead of their respective prices of $15, $13, and $18.
The price for several seasons of the TV show South Park will be cut to $20 from $25.
The TV show Orphan Black will cost $15 instead of $26.
