Boeing said on Monday it hired veteran General Electric aviation executive Kevin McAllister as chief executive of its commercial airplanes business, effective immediately.
McAllister, 53, will succeed Ray Conner, 61, who will continue to serve as Boeing vice chairman through 2017, the world’s biggest planemaker said on Monday.
McAllister, who has been with GE’s (GE) aviation unit for nearly three decades, was most recently chief executive of the conglomerate’s $8 billion aviation services business.

Boeing (BA) also named Stanley Deal chief executive of the company’ new business unit, called Global Services.
Deal, 52, was most recently senior vice president of Boeing’s commercial aviation services business.
The new unit will be formed from the customer services groups within the company’s existing commercial airplanes and defense, space and security businesses, Boeing said.
