A mysterious do-gooder has paid off the layaway debts of nearly 200 customers of a Pennsylvania Walmart after writing the company a check for nearly $50,000 this week.
A woman walked into the retailer in Everett, Penn. On Wednesday and handed over a cashier’s check for $46,265.59 to pay off 194 layaways, the Bedford County Free Press first reported on Facebook. It’s the largest donation a Walmart store has received so far this season.
“When customers quietly pay off others’ layaway items, we’re reminded how good people can be,” Wal-Mart said in a statement to CNBC.
A woman who called herself “Santa B.” Delivered the check but it was signed by a man, CNBC reports. This is the third year in a row that “Santa B.” Has paid off layaway accounts in Walmarts in Pennsylvania.
