Twentieth Century Fox is trying to sow the seeds of virtual reality.

The film studio giant said this week that it’s research arm, the Fox Innovation Lab, is partnering with the startup Felix & Paul Studios to co-create VR flicks and other interactive virtual reality entertainment.

Felix & Paul Studios, which is backed by investors like Comcast Ventures (CMCSA) and the Phi Group, produces a range of documentaries and original interactive films that can be viewed in virtual reality headsets like the Facebook (FB) Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR mobile headset.

Some of Felix & Paul Studios’s recent creations include a documentary short featuring President Barack Obama visiting Yosemite National Park and a 360-degree live-action flick made in conjunction with the theatrical circus company Cirque du Soleil.

Mike Dunn, the president of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and the Fox Innovation Lab said the following in a statement:

“Felix & Paul Studios is a visionary studio that represents the highest caliber of immersive and engaging experiences, and their vision for bringing virtual reality to mainstream audiences makes them a perfect partner to help realize the possibilities for the future of consumer entertainment, from both a creative and technical perspective.”

Fox (FOX) didn’t elaborate on what types of VR media the two studios will be releasing in the future, but said that the content would be related to Fox’s film properties and would include “acclaimed filmmakers.” Some of Twentieth Century Fox’s big films include Avatar, Titanic, Independence Day, and The Martian.

Fox and Felix & Paul Studios have previously worked on a 360-degree short called Wild, which featured actors Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern on a trek on the Pacific Crest Trail in California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range.
