Burger chain Shake Shack (SHAK) is shaking up its business with a new mobile app, allowing customers to order ahead and to customize orders on their iPhones, skipping long lines.
More than a dozen locations now offer Shake Shack’s new mobile ordering service, which was pioneered in Manhattan two months ago, according to culinary news site Eater. It’s now available in several locations in New York City, as well as Connecticut, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Washington, D.C.
Shake Shack’s slick new app reportedly lets customers choose items from the chain’s full menu, with only one exception: the Shack’s signature blended custard shake that’s so thick it’s known as “concrete.”
The app is currently only available for iOS users, but the company said an Android version is also in the works, Eater reports.
You might get to skip the line, but according to Business Insider you may still have to wait, albeit in a place of your choosing. BI reports that it took about 40 minutes from the time of placing the order to be able to go pick it up at a midtown branch in Manhattan.

Shake Shack joins the roster of fast food chains to hop on the digital bandwagon. Chipotle (CMG), Starbucks and Taco Bell have all begun mobile ordering services. McDonald’s (MCD) is also reportedly preparing to roll out mobile ordering services, according to BI.
