When you’re looking for a job or are looking to fill a job, the first sites that probably come to mind are LinkedIn, Indeed.com, Monster.com, or Glassdoor.
Facebook (FB), on the other hand, would not be your first, second, or even third thought. The social network giant wants to change that. On Wednesday, it started adding job listings to its Facebook Business section.
Companies in the United States and Canada can now post openings either on their own page and/or on a new jobs page. Interested applicants can click on a button to apply instantly.
Facebook’s pitch is that millions of its active users can now find jobs in a place they’re already visiting. Page administrators can create their posts, track applications, and contact those applying via Facebook Messenger.

Job seekers can narrow their search by city or area, full- or part-time preferences, and type of work.
Companies can post their jobs for free—indeed many were already putting job ads on their own Facebook pages. The idea behind the new service is to make posts easier to find if you don’t happen to wander to that page.
There are currently no fees for posting jobs or for helping employers fill them, according to Facebook.

The news comes just several weeks after LinkedIn, which Microsoft (MSFT) bought last year for $26 billion, unveiled a new, sleeker desktop interface.
But Facebook clearly has business users on the brain. It’s pushing Facebook Workplace to business users, for example, and now its jobs section.
But, as TechCrunch pointed out, many people use Facebook to share personal posts that may be not suitable for work. Will they really want to apply for jobs on the same site they use to post wild party pics?
