White House senior adviser Jared Kushner—and son-in-law of President Donald Trump—complained about CNN’s coverage of the nascent Administration during a meeting with a senior executive from the news network’s parent company, the Wall Street Journalreports.
Kushner told Gary Ginsberg, Time Warner’s (TWX) executive vice president of corporate marketing and communications, about his concerns regarding what he saw as “unfair coverage slanted against the President,” the Journal says, citing sources familiar with the matter as well as a White House official.

The Journal reports that Kushner also brought up what he alleges to be CNN’s anti-Trump angle in its coverage with others in the Time Warner leadership, including Jeff Zucker, CNN Worldwide’s president.
Time Warner is currently planning a merger with telecoms operator AT&T (T), which requires reviews by agencies including the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission before it can go ahead.
Citing its sources, the Journal reports that Kushner did not bring up the deal, which Trump opposed on the record during the campaign.
Trump has continued his antagonistic relationship with the media, developed during the election campaign, after taking office. News conferences held by both himself and press secretary Sean Spicer have consistently been peppered with open hostility toward the media—including calling CNN “fake news.” The media, not the least of all CNN, has been uncowed.
