Chinese businesses really like the First Daughter. At least 65 applications have been filed in China to use “Ivanka” as a trademark, according to the country’s trademark authority.
The Fujian Yingjie Commodity Company filed to use the trademark on a line of sanitary products, CNBC reports. Ten applications were also filled by a single Beijing based company, for use of the trademark on everything from beauty products to supplements.
The majority of the applications are waiting approval and it’s not known if the trademarks will be allowed.
Chinese law allows foreign names or Chinese translations of those names to be used as trademarks. As well as trademarks, around 40 businesses have used the Chinese characters of Trump’s name in company registrations.
