Katherine Johnson, the groundbreaking NASA mathematician and inspiration for the movie Hidden Figures, is now part of a new Lego set honoring women at NASA.
Lego’s new set, announced Tuesday, also includes Sally Ride, the first female astronaut in space; Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space; computer scientist Margaret Hamilton; and astronomer Nancy Grace Roman.
Johnson, who is now 98, appeared onstage at the Oscars and got a standing ovation alongside the cast of Hidden Figures, which was nominated for Best Picture.
Maia Weinstock, a science editor and writer who pitched the idea for the set and designed it, wrote on her Lego submission page that she wanted to honor women in NASA because “in many cases, their contributions are unknown or under-appreciated.”
Pricing and availability for the set have not yet been announced, Lego said.
