Former Vice President Joe Biden backed Sen. John McCain’s calls for a special committee to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election on Thursday.
House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Devin Nunes'(R-Calif.) Had claimed that President Trump and his team had been the subjects of incidental U.S. Surveillance. Nunes shared that information with the White House before sharing it with the rest of the committee. This, along with a response from Democrat Adam Schiff on the Committee, prompted McCain to say in a Wednesday interview that Congress no longer had “the credibility to handle this alone.”
Biden echoed the idea in a Thursday tweet, writing that the chair of the committee investigating the White House is not supposed to share information about the investigation with the White House.

Many have called for a select committee to be tasked expressly with investigating Russia’s election interference and possible ties to Trump’s campaign team.
