After months of rumors and speculation, Samsung introduced the new Galaxy S8 smartphone at its Unpacked event in New York City on Wednesday. The devices sports an all-new design, a high-end processor, and a new virtual personal assistant it’s calling Bixby.
The handset comes with a curved screen and a slimmed-down bezel at the top and bottom. That has required Samsung to eliminate the physical home button on the front and move the device’s fingerprint sensor to the rear.
The Galaxy S8 runs on Qualcomm’s new and top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 processor and Android Nougat, Google’s (GOOGL) latest mobile operating system. A physical button on its right side activates Bixby, a service that will let users perform thousands of tasks.

On the security front, users will find a fingerprint sensor, along with an iris scanner and a facial recognition function providing devices access only to authorized users.
The Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch screen. The Galaxy S8+ has all the same features as the Galaxy S8, but comes with a slightly larger battery and a 6.2-inch display.
Samsung for now is keeping Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ pricing close to the vest, but plans to open preorders on Thursday. The smartphone will go on sale on April 21.
