Scarlett Johansson might be a world-renowned actress, but that doesn’t mean it’s any easier for her to balance work and family.
Speaking at the eighth annual Women in the World Summit in New York City on Thursday, the Lost in Translation star talked about her experience trying to find that balance—and it’s an experience that will sound familiar to employees with children.
“As a working parent there are a lot of added stresses there,” she told interviewer Arianna Huffington. “You’re constantly feeling like there’s not enough of you…and not enough time for you.”

However, having a child—Johansson has one two-and-a-half-year-old daughter—is still “magical,” she said. “It’s such an opportunity to really enjoy just life and the simple things that connect us to one another.”
Johansson added that she is particularly grateful for the way her daughter helps her unplug from the outside world. “I’ve been fascinated with this paring away of all this noise and this return to this child state,” she said. “It’s so wonderful to have this tiny person to interact with and share that with.”
