If you’re an Amazon Prime member in Seattle, you can now pick up your groceries at one of two Amazon drive-up grocery stores.
The concept, called AmazonFresh Pickup, works like this. You buy your items online and then choose a pickup time at the brick and mortar store, the Seattle Times reports. If you belong to Amazon Prime, you can choose a time starting two hours after the order is placed, but if you’re a member of AmazonFresh, your groceries can be ready in 15 minutes. At the allotted time, you drive and pull into a spot at the AmazonFresh Pickup location, a license plate reader signals that you’ve arrived, and your groceries are brought out to your car.
This is the first time the public can try out these stores. Since March they’ve been in “beta” mode, only available to Amazon (AMZN) employees in a program to test them. Amazon reportedly wants to open 2,000 of these stores in the U.S. Over the next ten years.
