Hillary Clinton quickly criticized the National Rifle Association following the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas late Sunday, which left at least 50 people dead and hundreds more injured.
“Our grief isn’t enough,” Clinton, the former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate, said on Twitter. “We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”
Clinton also referred to legislation supported by pro-gun groups that the House is set to advance this week, which would deregulate gun silencers. She suggested the death toll in Las Vegas could have been higher if people had not run away upon hearing gunshots. The attack at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. History.
“The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots,” she said. “Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.”

Calling the shooting a “cold-blooded massacre,” Clinton offered sympathy to the victims, their families and first responders.
