Easter is usually a day of coming together. It’s one of the holiest days in Christianity. And kids excitedly await the Easter Bunny’s arrival and egg hunts. But in the age of COVID-19 coronavirus, none of that is a good idea. And a small family dinner, limited to the people under your roof, is about all the socialization that you’re going to find.

For some people, that’s an excuse to create an elaborate feast—a celebration that flies in the face of a pandemic, even while adhering to social distancing guidelines. And with any feast, there are always forgotten ingredients.

The best course of action, naturally, is to shrug that off and make the most of what you have. No ham glaze or mashed potato recipe is worth risking your health. But if you absolutely must go to the store on Easter 2020, here’s who will be open and closed.

Which retail stores are open on Easter Sunday 2020?

This is not the year to grab a last-minute basket or chocolate bunny. Virtually all major department stores have long been closed to protect their employees and comply with state and local stay-at-home orders.

While essential businesses might be open, those don’t have inventory that falls within typical Easter needs.

Which restaurants are open on Easter Sunday 2019?

Many major restaurant chains will be open on Easter, though orders are, of course, limited to takeout or delivery. Chick-Fil-A is closed, as it is every Sunday. And most Chipotle and Jason’s Deli locations are taking the day off as well. You’ll also want to double check on franchised restaurants, such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Domino’s and Dunkin’ Donuts, since individual owners might opt to close for the day.
