If the idea of living in a run-down motel in Ontario, Canada, doesn’t hold a lot of appeal and you’d prefer instead to live like the Rose family of Schitt’s Creek before they lost it all, you’ve got your chance.

But if the Rosebud Motel seemed charming, too…That’s on the market as well. The two primary pieces of real estate from the hit show are on the market at the same time. And neither is as expensive as you might think.

The Rose family mansion

The mansion that was featured as the Rose home in Schitt’s Creek is on the market and can be yours for CA$19,888,888 (about $15.8 million U.S.).

That’s nothing to sneeze at, mind you, but given all the space and amenities, it’s actually something of a bargain compared with other recent luxury real estate deals in the U.S.

The home is actually known as La Belle Maison, and it’s as luxurious as it looked on the show—though you won’t find the life-size portrait of the Rose family among the decorations. The main home spans 24,000 square feet and has 12 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. The foyer is as astonishing as it appears on the show, with frescoes that bring the Sistine Chapel to mind and an opulent marble staircase leading to a second-floor walkway.

Located in an upscale Toronto neighborhood, the mansion was built in the style of a 17th-century château and boasts an eight-seat home theater, wine cellar, billiard room, home gym, sauna, and two pools—indoor and outdoor.

Want to learn to fold in the cheese when passing down your mother’s recipe? An opulent kitchen with a giant marble island, a chandelier, and a sofa is the perfect place to do so.

Built in 2012, the mansion has been listed several times since 2018 and has seen its price drop from an original asking price of CA$22 million ($17 million U.S.). Khoren Mardoyan of HomeLife/Vision is the listing agent.

The Rosebud Motel

Prefer a simpler life? The hotel that served as the Rosebud Motel is also on the market—with a price tag of CA$2 million ($1.6 million U.S.). (Colliers is listing the motel.)

Officially named the Hockley Motel, the 4,300-square-foot facility is located on 6.7 acres in Ontario, quite close to the Nottawasaga River, which is filled with rainbow trout and salmon. (That’s about 1.5 hours outside downtown Toronto.) The property is currently not operational.

The motel has 10 rooms, including a two-story manager’s suite and separate cottage. The Rosebud Motel sign is no longer displayed, though.

The Hockley is actually a favorite of film crews. Besides Schitt’s Creek, the motel has been featured in The Umbrella Academy, A History of Violence, and Hulu’s 11.22.63.

Houses that were featured in hit shows often carry high price tags. The original Beverly Hillbillies mansion was listed for $350 million in 2017, before seeing its price cut to $195 million two years later. It sold in December 2019 to Lachlan Murdoch, cochairman of News Corp and CEO of Fox, for about $150 million.
