It all started with a pun. An especially fervent Star Wars fan on the Internet (whose name is lost to time) looked at the calendar and told another fan, “May the Fourth be with you.” And just like that…Star Wars Day was born.
The day has taken on a life of its own since then. Lucasfilm embraced it, as did Disney. And fans decided—unofficially—that one day wasn’t enough. Before long, it was a two-day event when someone came up with “Revenge of the Fifth,” another pun branching off from the Episode III subtitle, Revenge of the Sith. And now, it’s threatening to become a monthlong celebration thanks to The Mandalorian on Disney+, as the latest meme reworks Din Djarin’s favorite phrase into “This is the May.”
In the end, though, is there anything wrong with celebrating the entertainment franchise that has spread so far and wide? Star Wars went from an underdog film to an empire that covers film, live action television, cartoons, comics, books, music, video games, and more. And its reach into the retail world is even more diverse.

The Mandalorian’s Grogu (still more commonly known as The Child) has been a fan favorite since his first appearance on the Disney+ program. The Star Wars Collection by Ruggable
Normally a rug celebrating a science fiction franchise wouldn’t be especially tasteful. But Ruggable’s offerings are actually subdued, and many people likely won’t even notice that they’re walking atop TIE fighters or an epic battle on Hoth. The Star Wars Archives

The ‘Dark Side’
Furry Wampa rug
Skip the hunting trip to Hoth and show your mastery of the snow beast that (briefly) bested Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.
