McCormick has pulled three popular seasonings from store shelves after learning they could contain salmonella.
In a voluntary move, the company has recalled its McCormick Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning, McCormick Culinary Italian Seasoning, and Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Ranch Seasoning products. To date, there have been no reports of illness from the affected products.
The products were shipped between June 20 and July 21 to 32 states, Bermuda, and Canada.
Consumers who bought them are being asked to toss both the contents and the packaging in the trash. They can then call the company at 1-800-635-2867 for a replacement or refund. There’s no need, the company says, to return the products to the store.
People infected with salmonella can expect symptoms that include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours. The illness can stretch from four to seven days, but most patients recover without needing medical treatment.
The recall alert did not list the stores that sold the products, but they’re widely available at many major chains, including Walmart, Target and Kroger stores.
McCormick’s not the only company to have to recall seasonings lately. Two days ago, Excalibur Seasoning Company recalled certain bottles of its Haen Meats 1959 House Blend for possible listeria. Also earlier this month, Tyson Foods recalled several pre-cooked chicken products for listeria contamination concerns.
The auto industry has been recalling even more products, though. Ford recalled 775,000 Explorer SUVs due to a steering issue and Mazda recalled over 260,000 cars because of its own logo.
