Banking on Christmas Eve is confusing enough in a regular year. Some close early. Some may not even open. And policies can vary from branch to branch. 2021 is taking things to the next level, though.

Dec. 25 is a bank holiday. But it’s on a Saturday this year, so some financial institutions—like the New York Stock Exchange—will observe it on Dec. 24. Does that mean banks are closed too? Not necessarily.

Many locations, though, will have notably reduced hours, according to GoBankingRates.com. Hours can vary from branch to branch, so it’s always wise to call and confirm before you venture out into the pre-Christmas traffic madness, especially if your location is near a mall. That said, here’s a look at which banks are open—and how late.
