Move over, Egg McMuffin. There’s a new breakfast staple coming to McDonald’s.

The fast-food giant and Krispy Kreme have announced an expanded partnership that will result in the three most popular Krispy Kreme doughnut varieties being sold in restaurants around the U.S. Some stores will begin offering the fried dough treats in the coming months. The rollout is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.

Purists need not worry that the doughnuts will be fried in the same oil as the chain’s french fries. Krispy Kreme will deliver a fresh batch to restaurants every day. Customers can buy a single one or a box of six throughout the day.

Diners will be able to select among the original glazed doughnut, a chocolate-iced doughnut with sprinkles, and the chocolate iced “kreme-filled” doughnut.

“This partnership is an exciting next step in that journey and a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, in a statement.

For Krispy Kreme, it’s an opportunity to expand the brand without having to open new brick-and-mortar locations. The company says it will double its points of access once the rollout is complete.

“Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme,” said Josh Charlesworth, Krispy Kreme president and CEO.

McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme first began exploring a relationship in late 2022, offering the doughnuts at 160 locations in the Lexington and Louisville, Ky., areas.

Krispy Kreme stock was up 22% Tuesday morning on the announcement.
