Tim Cook, who has been  CEO of Apple for 13 years, had no idea people were naming their iMessage group chats. But once he found out, he had to give it a try.

When a Wall Street Journalreporter recently asked Cook what the best name for a group chat was, he was more than a little confused.

“The best—name?” He questioned the Journal. “I don’t name them. Do you name yours? Interesting. I may take that on.”

Despite Cook’s innocent obliviousness to the feature (he is 63 years old, after all), the feature has been available for years. Since the release of iOS 14 in 2020, users have also been able to add a photo, memoji, or animoji to the group to make it more distinguishable. The only catch is that only a group chat with all iPhone users can have a distinct name and photo.

Once Cook found out about the feature, he was eager to join the club of whimsically named chats, but in true Cook style, he went for a name that was straightforward and to the point. The next time he met with the Journal, he happily revealed the name he gave to the chat with his college roommates in it: Roommates.

While Cook may be worth an estimated $2.2 billion, according to Forbes, he’s seemingly just like the rest of us. His phone screen background is a photo of his nephew in Grand Teton National Park, and his most underrated app is the Notes app, where he likes to write things down before he forgets.

One thing that may set him apart from the rest of us is that he apparently uses the $3,500 Vision Pro regularly to watch Apple TV shows like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show while lying flat on his couch.
