Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) was escorted out of the House Chamber by security after he refused to obey Speaker Mike Johnson’s orders to take his seat. Green was shaking a gold-topped cane while Trump began his remarks by discussing his election victory and the Republican sweep of Congress.

“America is back,” declared Trump as he opened the address before a joint session of Congressional and other leaders. “We’ve accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplished in four years or eight years,” said Trump, “and we are just getting started.”

However, before Trump could get further into his remarks, tensions among Green and other lawmakers began to boil. Green yelled to Trump, “You have no mandate.”

He was taken away by security.

Trump’s fifth address to Congress and his first in this presidency came amid fears that an international trade war could come to fruition after Trump revealed 25% taxes on Mexican and Canadian imports. He spared Canadian energy by only imposing a tariff of 10%.
