It’s not uncommon for the best certificates of deposit (CDs) nowadays to breach 3.50% APY. These colossal rates most often come from online banks that have little operating costs—so it’s nice to find a full-service bank that offers generous rates too.

TL;DR

  • Wells Fargo offers standard and special CDs with competitive rates for 2025.
  • Special CDs offer higher APYs, with 4-month terms reaching 3.74% (4.00% for relationship customers).
  • IRA and Business CDs are also available with varying minimum deposits and rates.
  • Wells Fargo CD rates are competitive but may not be the absolute highest available.

Wells Fargo offers everything from credit cards to high-yield savings accounts. It’s also got a fistful of CD options that go toe-to-toe with just about anyone.

Here's a breakdown of Wells Fargo CD rates and recommendations for maximizing your returns.

Learn more about Wells Fargo Bank

As of this writing, Wells Fargo stands as the fourth-largest bank in the U.S., holding $1.76 trillion in consolidated assets, based on Federal Reserve data. Being a prominent financial institution, Wells Fargo's certificate of deposit (CD) rates are competitive, providing depositors a secure avenue to gain returns on their funds, though they aren't the highest available.

Its savings accounts can also provide remarkably high APY, especially regarding CDs vs. High-yield savings accounts, CDs usually provide a better return rate. However, based on your account balance, you might earn more than some CD terms provide.

When choosing between a Wells Fargo CD vs. A savings account, think about how easily you can get to your funds. CDs usually charge a fee if you take out your money before the term ends, whereas savings accounts let you handle your money more flexibly, generally with a cap of six withdrawals monthly.

Beyond CDs, Wells Fargo provides a broad selection of additional banking services, such as credit cards, checking accounts, mortgages, personal loans, and investment options.
