In 2020, Salesforce hired Arundhati Bhattacharya to lead its India business. Bhattacharya is well known in India as the first woman to serve as chairwoman of the State Bank of India, the country's largest bank. Salesforce’s India business is rapidly expanding, crossing the $1 billion revenue threshold last year and boasting 35% year-on-year growth. While Bhattacharya admits that jumping from banker to tech CEO was a bit of a jump, she told Fortune India that she felt she could bring “the user’s perspective” to the U.S. enterprise software developer.
