Clara Chan’s COVID-era bailout of Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific may have helped get her the top job at the Hong Kong Investment Corporation, a new investment firm designed to be the city’s equivalent to Singapore’s Temasek. Chan now oversees a $62 billion portfolio and is driving investments in biotech and green technology. Also a barrister by training, she’s forged a career in public service, including for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Hong Kong’s de facto central bank.
