Standard Chartered appointed Mary Huen as CEO of its Hong Kong, Greater China and North Asia unit in August 2024, as the British bank navigates geopolitical turbulence and a downturn in commercial real estate. Huen joined the bank in 1991, rising to become the region’s head of retail banking in 2009, then cluster CEO for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau in 2021. She is also currently the chair of the Hong Kong Association of Banks, a communication channel between the financial center’s government and its major banks.
