Sonia Cheng

The granddaughter of Hong Kong billionaire Cheng Yu-tung, Sonia Cheng is chief executive of the family's hospitality business, Rosewood Hotel Group, which she took over at just 28. The Harvard graduate acquired U.S.-owned Rosewood Hotels in 2011 and transformed its portfolio, which now spans over 58 hotels in 26 countries, an integrated well-being concept, and a private members club. She is also vice-chairman of the family’s 95-year-old Chow Tai Fook Jewellery chain; despite stagnating sales, increased profitability and investor faith in the chain’s transformation strategy have sent shares up over 130% in the first nine months of 2025.
