News Corporation is a global media and publishing company with substantial operations in the U.S., U.K., and Australia that was formally founded in 1980 by Rupert Murdoch. The company's stable of publications include the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, The Times, The Sun, The Australian, and HarperCollins. A behemoth in media, News Corp. has been built in part through big-ticket acquisitions. In 1985, News Corp. bought Twentieth Century Fox, and in 2007, it bought Dow Jones. In 2013, the company split in two, with 21st Century Fox taking on the entertainment business while News Corp. retained the news and publishing units.
